Laws and Bylaws
As with any large project, we will check local building code and permit
requirements before beginning work. As a general rule, the documents required for building a garage are the construction
plans and a plot plan indicating the location or the planned construction project on your land. We will build your garage to
code and fulfilling all requirements suggested and imposed.
Dimensions
Before we get started,
you will need to choose the size of your garage according to your needs. But how do you decide what size is right for you? As
a general rule of thumb a single garage should be at least 20 ft. (6.1m) long, measured from the inside of the front wall to
the inside of the back wall and 14ft. (4.27m) wide. The minimum width for a double garage should be 20 ft.. (6.1m). If
you're planning on having a workbench or using your garage to store bicycles, tools or firewood, you should build a longer
and possibly wider garage. Always build a garage at least to the dimension you really want, if you can afford it. It will
cost more to add-on later than to do it all at once.
Additional Rooms
One thing that many
people forget is that when they are building a garage, it's a perfect opportunity to build an additional room for reading,
sleeping, and even as an apartment.
You will be surprised how much more cost effective it is to build the
additional room as an attachment to the garage rather than as an addition all by itself. The cost savings and time savings
could be just what you are looking for. At Zablocki Construction, we are ready to serve your needs, and your needs are our #
1 priority.
